This policy explains what personal data SunVolt Energy Limited collects through this website, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your rights under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019.
Who we are
SunVolt Energy Limited ("SunVolt", "we") is the data controller for personal data collected on this website. You can contact us about your data at hello@sunvoltenergy.co.ke or on +254 723 773 385.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to answer you:
- When you send an inquiry: your name, phone number, email address (optional), town or county, any note you add, the products and services in your inquiry cart, and whether you want installation.
- When you book a site visit: your name, phone number, email address (optional), county, location, the kind of work you want, and optionally your monthly power spend, a preferred date and notes.
- When you send a message: your name, phone number and/or email address, the topic and your message.
- Technical data: a one-way, salted hash of your IP address, used to stop spam and abuse (we can't turn it back into your address), and your browser type when you send an inquiry. A bot check from Cloudflare may run when you send a form.
Your inquiry cart is kept in your own browser's storage (product references and quantities only) until you send or clear it. We don't use advertising cookies.
Why we use it
- To prepare your quote, arrange a site visit, reply to your message, and deliver and install what you order. We rely on your consent, which you give by ticking the box on each form, and on taking steps you've asked for before a sale.
- To keep records of quotes and sales that the law requires, such as tax records.
- To protect the website from spam, fraud and abuse.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiries, site-visit requests and messages for up to 24 months after you send them, so we can follow up on quotes, orders and warranty claims. After that we delete or anonymise your personal details. Where the law requires us to keep sales records for longer, we keep only what it requires.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:
- be told how your personal data is used;
- see the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate or misleading data corrected;
- have data deleted when we no longer need it;
- object to how we use your data, and withdraw your consent at any time;
- receive your data in a format you can take elsewhere.
To use any of these rights, email hello@sunvoltenergy.co.ke and tell us which right and the phone number or email address you used. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at odpc.go.ke.
How we protect it
The website uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only SunVolt staff who handle quotes and support can see your details, through an admin area protected by individual accounts and passwords.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if the way we use personal data changes, and change the "Last updated" date at the top.
